Our research team is committed to staying at the forefront of radiology through developing and nurturing meaningful relationships with our research partners.

The RHCNZ Research Network has completed over 400 clinical studies and can offer your team:

  • In depth experience and expertise in research excellence.
  • A dedicated team of advanced medical imaging technologists, radiologists, and PhD imaging scientists.
  • Access to all modalities offered by the RHCNZ network. Please note:
    • In PET we offer the use of new and novel tracers and were the first in New Zealand to scan and report utilising tracers 
    • Our network includes Nuclear Medicine, Breast Imaging and biopsies
  • Our radiologists are proficient in various reporting frameworks, including RECIST, Lugano, REXA, iwCLL and PCWG3 ensuring comprehensive and standardised evaluations.
  • A network of 74 branches from Whangārei to Invercargill.
  • Effective and efficient management and administration.

Research and Education Trust.

Supporting educational talent.

Our Research and Education Trust was established when we recognised the lack of funding opportunities for students working on radiology-linked projects. 


Through the Research and Education Trust we aim to:

  • Foster innovation in imaging capability with the goal of improving patient care
  • Fund fellowships and scholarships to New Zealand based educational institutions
  • Facilitate the publication of research in international and local academic journals

Application requirements

  • Although applicants are usually medical students, we welcome applications from other fields of study
  • These grants are only available to students studying at 
New Zealand tertiary institutions
  • You must be able to demonstrate potential long term health benefits for the community

Ross is a radiologist with Pacific Radiology and our Director of Clinical Research. He has numerous publications in peer reviewed journals to his name and is involved with ongoing local and international research collaborations.

RHCNZ is involved in literally hundreds of clinical research projects at any time. The results have the potential to make very real changes for patients and ageing populations within New Zealand and across the globe.
